This vlei rat is recorded at high elevations in the Ruwenzori Mountains. It has soft, woolly fur, with pale brown upperparts and grayish underparts washed with buff.
The fur is soft and woolly. The back is pale brown finely speckled with buff; the grayish underside is washed with buff. The tail is dark above and paler below.
The expedition report found it in wet tree-heath and moss between about 3,660 and 4,115 m, and caught it in runs through deep moss. The authors thought it appeared to feed on plants; that remains their field inference rather than a confirmed diet.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
