This tanager inhabits Andean forest and humid scrub. Its blue head and gray throat and belly help distinguish it from similar species.
The crown and nape are blue; the back and tail are olive-yellow. A dusky band crosses the eye, the throat and belly are gray, and the vent and undertail are yellow. The sexes are similar.
It forages in pairs, family groups, or mixed flocks in the forest subcanopy, along edges, and in humid montane scrub.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
