The Crimson Rosella lives in forests and woodlands of eastern Australia. Alongside red adults, yellow and orange color forms occur in parts of its range.
Adults are mostly red with blue cheeks, but the yellow form has pale yellow where crimson would normally occur, and orange forms also occur. Young birds keep blue cheeks while their bodies are olive green to yellowish olive.
It is commonly associated with tall eucalypt and wetter forests, often travels in small flocks, and feeds on seeds, insects, and blossoms. Its nest is in a tree hollow.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
