This small tyrant flycatcher ranges through the Tumbesian region of western Ecuador and northwestern Peru. A broad white eyebrow and yellow crown patch help identify it.
The crown is grey-brown with a bright yellow central patch. A broad white eyebrow extends behind the dark ear-coverts; the back is brownish olive and the belly pale yellow.
It inhabits dry deciduous forest, semi-humid gallery forest, and scrub, while avoiding humid forest. It usually forages alone and seldom joins mixed-species flocks; its diet is not well known.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
