This nocturnal mouse lemur lives in lowland forests and forest fragments in eastern Madagascar. It forages alone in trees in a heavily fragmented landscape.
Its body is brownish gray with a rufous head and a white stripe between the eyes. The long, densely furred tail can store body fat.
A 2023 study describes it as a solitary, arboreal forager. Knowledge of its ecology is growing, but habitat use and responses to human disturbance are still not fully understood.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
