An alpine marmot that eats grasses and roots in summer, then spends the long winter underground with its family.
It has a short, rounded head and small ears. Its coat ranges from gray-brown to darker shades, and its tail is thickly furred.
Families live together, and a lookout stands upright and gives a shrill warning call. They eat grasses, flowering plants and roots, then hibernate underground in winter.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
