This antbird lives near the forest floor in southeastern Amazonian Brazil. Bare facial skin forms a pale eye-ring, and it follows army-ant swarms to catch small animals flushed by the ants.
The head is blackish and the body brown, with a prominent pale eye-ring formed by bare facial skin. Adult males also have a noticeable crest.
Pairs or family groups follow army-ant swarms and forage close to the ground, taking insects, spiders, and other small arthropods flushed by the ants.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
