A lark with a rounded crest and dark streaks on the chest. Its food changes with the season, and it searches the ground for seeds and insects.
Its rounded, fan-shaped crest and dark chest streaks stand out. It resembles the Crested Lark but has a shorter bill.
Researchers modelled the distributions of 207 bird, amphibian, and reptile species in the Meseta Ibérica Biosphere Reserve, which spans Portugal and Spain. Thekla Lark was included, using 246 Iberian presence records. Its predicted distribution was mapped across the reserve in 1-kilometre cells.
The Thekla Lark model had an AUC of 0.943 and a TSS of 0.710. Climate inputs included daily rainfall and maximum and minimum temperatures. Four climate models and two emissions scenarios, RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5, were used for projections to 2050. The authors recommend including land-use change in future distribution projections.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
The study projected Thekla Lark distribution to 2050 in 1-kilometre cells using four climate models and two emissions scenarios. The authors recommend adding land-use change to future projections.
