The Black Eagle is a large, dark eagle with broad wings that uses forested hills and mountains. A historical observation in Sri Lanka described it gliding slowly over wooded slopes and into ravines while searching for prey.
It appears dark from a distance, but closer views show pale bars on the wings and tail. Its broad wings end in finger-like feathers, and its bill and feet are bright yellow.
A historical account of the Sri Lankan race perniger described it gliding slowly close above forested hillsides and into ravines while searching for prey.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
