Zappey’s Flycatcher breeds in central and east-central China and winters in the Thai-Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Java. Males are blue and females brown; it forages from the middle forest layer to the canopy.
Adult males have turquoise to azure upperparts and white underparts. Females are brown above with mottled brown breasts, white bellies and throats; first-winter males resemble females but have blue wings, tails, and backs.
It uses forests, parks, gardens, and other wooded areas, and forages mainly at mid-stratum and canopy levels.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
