Ihering's akodont is a small rodent recorded in southern Brazil and northeastern Argentina. In Misiones, it has been found in forest and several kinds of forest-edge habitat.
Head and body measure about 9.3–11.3 cm and the tail about 8.3–9.0 cm. It has an elongated snout, small eyes often hidden by head fur, and long foreclaws. The back ranges from chestnut to gray, while the belly is gray or brown with a yellowish wash.
A 2007–2018 survey in Misiones captured it in secondary forest, forest-edge shrubland, and streamside vegetation. Pregnant females were recorded in April, May, and September; four records averaged 2.2 fetuses.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
