This small bird lives on Aldabra Atoll in Seychelles. Males have a bright red head, neck, and breast, sharply set off from a sulphur-yellow belly. Skerrett’s 1999 article also discusses the older name F. eminentissima aldabrana; this entry follows the pool name F. aldabrana.
Males have a bright scarlet head, neck, and upper breast, sharply demarcated from the sulphur-yellow belly. The bill is large relative to the body.
The Aldabra bird is described as eating insects, seeds, and nectar.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
