Cassin's Finch is a small finch of the mountains of western North America. Males have a red crown, and the birds eat tree seeds and buds.
Adult males are rosy overall, with the brightest red on a peaked crown. Females and immature birds are brown and white with crisp dark streaks on the chest and back.
It feeds on buds and seeds in mountain evergreen forests and aspen groves. After breeding it may join other finches, and in winter it can move to lower elevations.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
