This pale-rumped swiftlet occurs on Sulawesi and the Banggai Islands. A mixed flock was observed from a primary-forest clearing on Peleng in 2009.
Birds observed on Peleng in 2009 had pale rumps, contrasting with nearby Aerodramus infuscatus.
On 27 March 2009, c.10 were seen in a mixed flock from a primary-forest clearing above 900 m on Peleng. On 31 March, monospecific flocks were photographed near sea level in western Peleng.
