Reig's akodont is a small rodent of Uruguay and Brazil's southern Campos. Its back is gray-olive, while accounts differ in how they describe its habitat use, with newer fieldwork revisiting earlier records.
Its back is gray-olive, its tail is bicolored, and gray hairs are described on the feet.
Older records from Uruguay and southern Brazil describe captures in gallery forest with deep litter and at forest-grassland edges, often in swampy places and less often in open grassland. Newer Southern Campos research also treats herbaceous and shrubby areas as important habitat.
