The red-tailed squirrel is an arboreal squirrel with variable coat and tail colors; fruits, nuts and seeds make up much of its diet.
The back is often dark orange but can range from yellowish brown with black flecks to all black. The underside ranges from white to orange-rust, and the tail tip may or may not be black.
It is usually solitary and travels along trunks and large branches. Fruits, nuts and seeds are major foods, with leaves, flowers and bark also eaten.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
