A small hummingbird of the eastern Andes of Peru and Bolivia. Its buff leg puffs and dark blue tail are useful field marks; it uses humid montane forest understory.
It is about 8.5 cm long. The body is mostly green, with a dark blue-black tail, bronze-orange rump, and buff leg puffs.
It uses the understory and edges of humid Yungas forest. In Bolivia it is rare to uncommon and has been recorded defending a small feeding territory; its behavior there is otherwise poorly known.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
