A rodent recorded in southern Venezuela, southern Guyana and Suriname, and northern Brazil. Its coat is grayish fawn, and records include open shrubland, grass, and rice-growing areas.
The upper coat is grizzled grayish fawn, sometimes more rufous; the rump can be redder than the back and the face grayer. The underside is dull whitish, the backs of the hands and feet are white, and the thinly haired tail is brown above and paler below.
It is recorded in open settings with shrubs rather than trees, including savannas and grassy areas beside an airstrip. It is common in rice-growing areas, and nests may be built in rice plants 50–80cm above ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
