This mouse was described from the western-central Angolan highlands. Labels for specimens from Mount Soque mention a collection place along a mountain brook and through tall grass.
The back coat is an even, dull yellowish-brown. Belly hairs are gray at the base and white at the tips, giving the underside a grayish-white appearance.
Many H. heinrichorum specimen tags from Mount Soque say the animal was caught “along mountain brook through tall grass, below Mt top.” The paper notes that the brief label does not establish which forest type was nearby.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
