The Eastern New Guinea shrew mouse is a small, slender rodent with dark gray-brown fur. Museum specimens place it in the montane forests of east-central New Guinea.
Its body is narrow and elongated, with dark brownish-gray fur above and slightly paler fur below. The dark tail can be nearly as long as the body.
Most specimens with habitat notes were collected in mossy montane forest. The available sources do not provide enough direct observations to describe its daily behavior in detail.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
