This small rodent has been collected in mossy, high-elevation forests of New Guinea. Its back is dark brownish gray, its underside paler, and its coat is dense and long.
The dorsal fur is uniformly dark brownish gray and the underside is paler gray. The dense coat is about 8 mm long on the midback; the tail, feet, and ears are pale, and the tail averages about 10 percent shorter than head-and-body length.
Collection records are from mossy upper montane forest. The revision treats Pseudohydromys as a group of terrestrial small rodents, while detailed behavior for this species remains sparsely recorded.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
