The long-nosed mongoose is a forest mongoose of Central Africa, named for its elongated muzzle. At a study site in southwestern Central African Republic, it was active by day and fed mainly on arthropods.
Its muzzle is notably long, and coat color varies. A museum study found marked color variation in the skins examined and no external feature that reliably separated the local forms.
At the southwestern Central African Republic study site, it was strictly diurnal and spent most of its time in upland forest. Its nocturnal resting sites changed from day to day, and arthropods dominated its diet.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
