The Black-winged Kite is a small raptor with a grey back, white underparts, and black shoulder patches. It has a broad range across Africa, southern Europe, and parts of Asia.
Adults have red eyes and show black wingtips and a white tail in flight. Juveniles have a buff wash to the plumage and brown eyes.
It hunts by hovering or watching from a perch in open country. Rodents are its main prey, though it also takes small birds, reptiles, and large insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
