The Letter-winged Kite is an Australian raptor with a black mark under each wing that can look like an M or W. It is active by night as well as by day and mainly eats rodents.
It has large, dark-ringed eyes and a pale face. The upperparts are white merging into gray, the underside is white, and a dark mark under each wing resembles an M or W depending on the bird's position.
It is semi-nocturnal and mainly hunts rodents, which can become abundant in deserts after good rains. It moves as seasonal conditions change and may breed in colonies when conditions are favorable.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
