This small antwren occurs in the tepui highlands of southern Venezuela, western Guyana, and northern Brazil. Its long tail and pale eyebrow stand out. It searches for insects in the upper levels of humid evergreen forest.
It is about 12–13 cm long, with a black crown and nape, a long pale grey to white supercilium, dark grey upperparts, and black wings and tail edged with white. Females have buff-tinged sides and breast.
It inhabits humid evergreen montane forest and forest edges at about 700–2,000 m. It mainly forages in the canopy and subcanopy, taking insects and probably spiders.
It sometimes joins mixed-species flocks of other insect-eating birds. Foraging has been reported from the canopy down to small saplings about 3 m above the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
