This small shrew lives in forests in the western Congo Basin and is recorded from the Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic.
It has a stout body, very short limbs, and a very short tail.
Most records are from primary forest, with some from degraded primary or secondary forest.
The fur is dark brown without a marked difference between the back and belly; the nose and lips are flesh-coloured.
The eyes and ears are very small and concealed by the fur.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
