This antbird is notable for its white face and chestnut plumage. A 2001 survey rediscovered it near the Río Morona in Loreto, northeastern Peru, and recorded birds following moving army-ant swarms.
It has chestnut plumage, a black hood, a white face, and saffron-yellow legs.
At the Río Morona site, birds followed army-ant swarms and were most often observed in moist white-sand varillal forest. The authors also recorded individuals in nearby seasonally flooded forest and terra firme.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
