The Indian Chat is a rufous-brown bird found mainly in northern and central India, often around rocky places and old buildings. It searches for insects near the ground.
It is about 17 cm long and uniformly rufous brown, with darker wings and tail and a dark grey-brown vent. The sexes look alike in the field.
It is often seen alone or in pairs around rocky areas and old buildings, catching insects mainly on the ground. It is largely resident, though some populations move with the weather.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
