The White-tailed Hawk uses its broad wings to hang in the wind as it searches grasslands for prey.
It has long, broad wings and a white tail. Adults are slate gray with rufous shoulders and a black band across the white tail.
It often hovers in the wind with little flapping while watching the ground for prey, then drops quickly to seize it. It eats mostly mammals and also other small vertebrates and large insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
