The Red-fronted Serin is a small finch of mountain slopes and meadows that feeds mainly on seeds. In winter it may descend to lower valleys.
In breeding plumage, the male has a blackish head and vivid red-orange forehead patch. The female is duller with a smaller patch, while juveniles are brown with black spots on the back and wings.
It feeds on the ground, mainly eating seeds of grasses and trees and sometimes small insects. It occurs in small or family groups, and some birds move to nearby lower valleys in winter.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
