A small ovenbird of islands in the Amazon river system. It uses young grass and scrub and searches trunks and branches for small arthropods.
Adults are largely rufous on the crown, back, rump, wings, and tail, with a pale forecrown streak, white throat, and light brown underparts. Its sides are darker than those of the Red-and-white Spinetail.
It feeds on arthropods and often forages in pairs through lower and middle woody vegetation, gleaning prey from bark, dead-leaf clusters, and trapped debris on trunks and limbs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
