The Amethyst Brown Dove is a Philippine forest endemic. A survey at Mount Makiling recorded it in the canopy and classified it as a fruit-eater.
The upper back has a violet sheen, and the undertail coverts are cinnamon. Its white ear patch is less conspicuous than in a close relative, and its bill is larger.
In a survey of evergreen forest at Mount Makiling, it was recorded in the canopy and classified as frugivorous. This describes the surveyed site, not every forest it inhabits.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
