The Stripe-throated Wren has a striped throat and reddish-brown tail. The account distinguishes a darker Pacific form from a paler, greyer Caribbean form.
The Pacific nominate form has a dark crown and back, rufescent rump and barred tail. Its striped throat contrasts with a reddish-buff breast; Caribbean grisescens is paler and greyer.
It uses secondary-forest edges and seasonally flooded lowland forest (várzea). Pairs forage for insects about 3–10 m above the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
