The Greater Honeyguide is widespread in sub-Saharan Africa. It can lead people, honey badgers, or baboons to a hive, then eat wax and larvae after the hive is opened.
The adult male has a black throat, pale gray ear patch, and nearly white breast. The female is grayish brown and lacks the male's throat and cheek patches.
It is active by day and usually solitary. It calls and fans its tail to attract people or other animals that can open a hive.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
