This bulbul occurs on Buru in Indonesia. The studies treat the Buru population as distinct from the populations on nearby Seram and Ambon.
It has a half-wedge of yellow at the lores and a partial yellow eye-ring. Its underparts are olive green and its tail olive grey.
Its song includes whistled phrases and is notably variable. Field observations distinguish its vocal repertoire from that of the Seram population.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
