The Barka Indigobird is a small finch of African savanna woodland. Breeding males are glossy black with a green sheen, but calls that mimic the host can help distinguish it from other indigobirds.
A breeding male is mainly black with a greenish gloss, a white bill, and pale grey legs. Females, juveniles, and nonbreeding males are sparrow-like and duller, with a broad pale eyebrow and central crown stripe.
It parasitizes Black-faced Firefinches and mimics their songs. It forages on the ground for small grass seeds in savanna woodland.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
