A study of the tropical population, then named A. stuartii adustus, recorded male die-off after breeding. Its breeding season lasted about six weeks in that study.
In the Koolmoon Creek study, animals were caught both on the ground and in trees and were active by day as well as by night.
Females in the same study had six nipples; pouch young were present by 20 July, and in August the young were suckling in nests.
At Koolmoon Creek the first independent juveniles were caught in November, when some females were still lactating.
