This small bird breeds in dry, open forests of western North America. Its white eye-ring is conspicuous, and it forages slowly through the lower and middle parts of trees. In winter it may join mixed flocks of woodland birds.
It has a bold white eye-ring. It is less colorful than the Blue-headed Vireo but has more olive tones than the mostly grey Plumbeous Vireo.
It eats mainly insects and larvae, along with spiders and small amounts of seeds and fruit. It gleans prey from leaves and twigs and sometimes pursues flying insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
