This vole is known from two sites in Mêdog County, Xizang, China. The original study describes specimens from both bamboo and conifer-forest sites.
The dorsal hairs have dark bases and brown tips, while the underside is grayish white. The back and belly are distinctly separated in color, and most whiskers are white.
Collection sites include bamboo cover and conifer forest. The paper also records a burrow beneath rotting wood.
