The Red-crowned Barbet is green with a conspicuous red crown. It eats fruit and insects in lowland forests of Southeast Asia.
Adults have a green body, a red crown, and red, yellow, and blue markings on the head and face. The red is duller in juveniles.
It uses lowland forest, secondary growth, and plantations. It eats figs and other fruit as well as insects, and may probe dead wood or termite galleries.
