This small rodent is known from near Porgera in Enga Province, central New Guinea. The specimens in its 2009 description came from mossy montane forest.
The described specimens have dark grey-brown upperparts, a somewhat paler underside, tiny eyes, and dark feet and tail.
The specimens known when it was described were collected in mossy upper montane forest near Porgera, Enga Province.
