A small tyrant flycatcher of Amazonian forest understory. Its species account lists several South American countries and includes an observation from Mato Grosso, Brazil.
The male has a cinnamon-colored crown patch. The female lacks this patch; the head and body show umber, black, white, and yellow markings.
It feeds on arthropods in the forest understory and may join mixed-species flocks at army-ant swarms.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
