This North American rodent moves in long bounds on its hind legs. It carries grass seeds in its cheek pouches and stores them underground.
The back is ochraceous buff mixed with black-tipped hairs. Its hind legs are much longer than the forelegs, and the tail has white and black bands.
It is nocturnal and stays in its burrow during the day or in poor weather. Grass seeds are carried in cheek pouches to underground caches.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
