This slender rat is known from montane forest on Sulawesi. Its description reports a dark gray-brown back flecked with pale brown and gray belly hairs with cream-colored tips.

The specimen in the original description was collected in lower montane tropical rainforest in the Quarles Range of western Sulawesi.
