It is a small bird of moist lowland forest undergrowth, with a range split among three areas in western and central Africa.
The sexes are similar. The upperparts are olive-brown, the throat orange-buff, and the breast and flanks rufous-orange fading to a whitish belly.
It searches for small invertebrates in moist lowland forest undergrowth, including secondary forest and plantation understory, foraging low or near the ground and sometimes attending army-ant swarms.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
