The Glossy Flowerpiercer has glossy black plumage and a blue shoulder patch and forages along Andean forest edges.
Its plumage is glossy black, with a blue patch on the shoulder and a silvery-grey area at the base of the bill. The sexes look similar.
It forages along humid forest edges, in low woodland, and in isolated páramo shrub patches. The page does not describe nectar-piercing, so that behavior is not inferred from its name.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
