A small flycatcher of the western Venezuelan Andes, living above treeline in cold, windy páramo and at scrub edges.
Both sexes are brown above and bright chestnut-rufous below, with a broad bright-rufous supercilium and one or two rufous wingbars.
It uses high-elevation páramo, scrub edges, dwarf forest, and open woodland. It forages mainly for insects and other invertebrates on the ground, sometimes on plants or in the air, sallying from a perch; it is usually alone or in pairs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
