The Rufous-collared Kingfisher is a colorful forest kingfisher. It favors woodland near water and takes fish as well as large insects and small animals.
FRIM describes it as a brightly colored kingfisher. The common name refers to blue markings around the face.
It holds a territory around food, suitable perches, and safe sites. From a low perch it dives for prey at the water surface or on the ground, taking fish, insects, scorpions, snails, small snakes, and lizards.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
