This squirrel has a grey back, white underside, and a tail with black and yellow-brown areas. It lives in Arizona canyon forests and eats walnuts and acorns.
The upper body is mostly grey and the underside is white; the tail is black above and yellow to brown below. Its grey coat darkens in winter.
It runs on the ground and moves among tree branches. In Arizona it may build a leaf nest where the trunk meets a large branch. Walnuts are common food; other foods vary by place and season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
