This medium-sized parrot is notable for its red shoulder patches. It feeds in the canopy of open woodland and trees along watercourses.
Males are bright lime green with a black back, blue rump and red wing patch. Females are similar but have a smaller patch, dark green back and paler rump.
It eats seeds, nectar, pollen, blossoms, insects and larvae. It forages on outer branches in the canopy and sometimes comes to the ground to drink or eat fallen seeds.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
